The Barrie Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the acquisition of a residence near the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown to host resident physicians who come to practice in the Haut-Saint-Laurent territory. This investment is an additional asset for medical recruitment in the area, addressing the shortage of medical staff and encouraging physicians to practice in the region. According to Dr. Sylvie Prévost, (Director of Medical Affairs at the CSSS of Haut-Saint-Laurent in 2013): 'It is excellent news to acquire this welcoming accommodation, offering all the necessary amenities for resident physicians so they can enjoy life in our community and, hopefully, be encouraged to settle here.'
Once again, the Foundation is attentive to the needs of medical recruitment. For a long time, the Barrie Memorial Hospital Foundation has been omnipresent in the community to financially support the Barrie Memorial Hospital in continuously improving access to quality services for the community.
This residence is primarily intended for resident physicians. A resident physician is a medical school graduate who is pursuing a three-year family medicine program in a hospital setting.
Since 2014, The Foundation House has provided accommodations to many residents and physicians.
