Inauguration of the new emergency room!
INAUGURATION OF THE NEW EMERGENCY ROOM AND MEDICAL IMAGING DEPARTMENT AT BARRIE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
This morning, the Quebec Minister of Health and Social Services, Mr. Yves Bolduc, and the Member of Parliament for Huntingdon, Mr. Stéphane Billette, officially inaugurated the new emergency room and the renovated medical imaging department featuring the installation of a CT scanner at the Barrie Memorial Hospital of the CSSS du Haut-Saint-Laurent. Mr. Bolduc also took the opportunity to honor Dr. Kevin P. Brissette, a dedicated physician who served the Haut-Saint-Laurent community for 34 years and passed away in January 2009. As a tribute, the East Wing of the third floor of the Barrie Memorial Hospital now bears his name.
The newly renovated emergency department, completed at a cost of $2,060,000, features state-of-the-art technology and a functional layout, including five observation stretchers. In the expanded and upgraded medical imaging department, the CT scanner allows the CSSS du Haut-Saint-Laurent to offer a comprehensive range of medical imaging services, significantly reducing patient wait times for these types of exams. The cost of the CT scanner and construction for the medical imaging department amounted to $1,940,000.
Marking the 70th anniversary of Barrie Memorial Hospital, these developments ensure its growth and sustainability. The CSSS du Haut-Saint-Laurent extends special thanks to the Barrie Memorial Hospital Foundation, supported by the local community, for largely funding these projects. Additional gratitude is expressed to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Auxiliary Ladies, and the Québec Foundation for the Barrie Memorial Hospital for their financial contributions.
